Surrendering a beloved pet is never an easy decision. But if you must part ways with your personal pet, we have suggestions.
Know your resources. The ASPCA provides great tips and solutions for behavior problems, moving issues, and time constraints. We recommend reading those tips before moving to your next step.
Notify your friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers. They may be able to help you find a new home for your pet. In fact, this type of networking can have very positive results.
Call your local animal shelter to schedule a surrender. The Central Oklahoma Humane Society focuses its mission on homeless animals at the Oklahoma City Animal Welfare Division and other local shelters. Through this partnership, OK Humane can access and accept animals from the public on an ongoing basis.
We are currently only assessing and accepting animals from the public on an extremely limited basis. Rarely, we are able to assess animals for our programs from the public (mostly puppies and kittens under the age of 6 months).
If you would like your pet to be considered, please fill out the form below. If they are a candidate, we will email or call you to schedule our next available appointment.
