Spay + Neuter
OK Humane opened its first Spay + Neuter Clinic in southeast Oklahoma City in December of 2007 and is currently serving animal welfare organizations, animals up for adoption through OK Humane, OK Humane’s Community Cat Program, and animals from the public at the OK Humane Place Spay + Neuter Clinic. The clinic is located at 6002 S. Western Ave. in Oklahoma City and is open Monday-Friday.
Feral cats can be found in rural urban areas across the state. In order to save the lives of so many feral cats entering our local shelters, OK Humane started three cat programs to address helping helping control populations, provided barn cats, and returning cats to their communities and environment.
Pet overpopulation in Oklahoma is real, but in other place in the United States, that isn’t the case. OK Humane’s Homeward Bound Relocation Program helps move dogs to areas where they are needed for adoption programs. Many times, these pets are adopted much more quickly than they could here. These weekly trips allow OK Humane to save lives and help our partner organizations.
Bottle Babies Nursery
The most fragile of pets are those who are orphaned from their mothers as infants. These babies require around the clock care, specialized medicine, and stimulation in order to grow and become adoptable. Our Bottle Babies Nursery allows more of the littlest lives to be saved in our local shelters.
The Humane Education Program offers area school children information about pet care basics while also encouraging attitudes of kindness, respect, and compassion for all life. In our mission to teach kindness and empathy toward animals, we work with hundreds of school children, Boy Scouts and other youth groups by visiting schools, daycares, and libraries. Tours of our adoption center are also available.
