Read a Book, Save an Animal: Oklahoma Humane Society Special Event

January 7th, 2010

On Saturday, January 9, from 12-4 pm, two authors of pet-themed books will be available for meeting and autographing copies of their books at the Oklahoma Humane Society Adoption Center (7500 N. Western, 405.286.1229). Profits from books sold at this event will be donated to the Oklahoma Humane Society.

Oklahoma author Mike Dyson joins visiting author Jennifer Tilman in this fantastic fundraiser for Oklahoma’s pets.

With the recent inclement weather Oklahoma has experienced, the OK Humane Society has found themselves working double time to save more lives and place deserving pets into new family homes.

Jennifer Tilman’s book Grooming Tales releases in March. Pre-release copies will be available at this event. This certified pet groomer will be available to share her knowledge and answer questions, as well as to share her collection of Grooming Tales. This is a must-have book for anyone with an animal, looking for an animal, or who simply loves animals. She answers the questions: What are the smartest breeds? What is the best pet for children? Do pets really look like their owners? With pictures of real pets and stories of real experiences, Grooming Tales is an informative and humorous manual to raising a pet.

Mike Dyson is the author of What Do Dogs Dream About?, a charming picture book exposing the hopes and dreams all creatures share. Mike is a case manager for the State of Oklahoma and also counsels children for a private agency.  He has a writing degree from the Institute of Children’s Literature, and a bachelor’s degree in counseling psychology from Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Texas.  Mike is currently pursuing his master’s in psychology from East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma, and plans to continue writing for children and teenagers.

Come meet these authors, learn more about pet ownership, and take home an autographed copy of a book—give back to the Oklahoma Humane Society by enriching your lives with these charming stories.

Published by Tate Publishing and Enterprises, the books are available at bookstores nationwide, can be ordered through the publisher at www.tatepublishing.com/bookstore.
