Rules

  1. Contestants will be selected by KJ103 FM  and the Central Oklahoma Humane Society.
  2. Employees of KJ103 FM and the Central Oklahoma Humane Society and their relatives are ineligible.
  3. All contestants must be in good health and pass a physical by a medical professional before the competition begins. Contestants must disclose any special medical or dietary needs, be able to sleep in the elements for several days in a row and have enough neck strength to hold up a chain.
  4. Contestants agree to daily health checks by medical professionals.
  5. Contestants can be removed from the competition at the sole discretion of the Central Oklahoma Humane Society and volunteers for any reason, including but not limited to, if the contestant appears to be suffering physical distress or if the contestant violates any of the contest rules.
  6. The winner will receive the title to a compressed natural gas car. Insurance, fuel and other liabilities will be the winner’s sole responsibility.
  7. The event will be in Bricktown in Oklahoma City, Okla., and continue one week. If more than one contestant is left at the end of the week, the winner will be selected by an online vote of the public. Contestants will remain chained through the voting period. The contestant with the most votes will win the car.
  8. Contestants must remain chained at all times except for reasonable use of the designated bathroom, which will be provided on location by the Central Oklahoma Humane Society. If a contestant removes his/her chain for any other reason, he/she is disqualified.
  9. Contestants must write at least two blog entries per day, to be completed by 5 p.m. each day. The contestants will write the blog entries on paper, and a volunteer will post the entries online. Contestants who do not turn in blog entries will be disqualified.
  10. Contestants must sign a waiver for photographs, video and blog content to become property of the Central Oklahoma Humane Society. Contestants also must sign a waiver acknowledging members of the media may interview, film or photograph them.
  11. Contestants are only allowed to talk to the media, medical personnel and Central Oklahoma Humane Society staff and volunteers. Contestants cannot talk to other contestants or members of the public; doing so will result in disqualification from the contest.
  12. The Central Oklahoma Humane Society will provide food, water, sunscreen, doghouses, collars, paper and writing utensils.
  13. Contestants are not allowed any personal items with the exception of prescription medication and feminine hygiene products.
  14. Contestants are allowed to wear one layer of clothing. For example, only one pair of socks may be worn. Multiple layers will be confiscated and held to the end of the contest.
  15. Contestants will be allowed to earn some personal items through competitions and donations made on their behalves. The competitions and donation rules will be announced as the contest progresses. No contestant is guaranteed to earn any personal items. Contestants can bring a bag of personal items to earn throughout the week. The bag — one small backpack or small travel bag — will be held by Central Oklahoma Humane Society staff and volunteers until a contestant earns the right to retrieve items.
  16. Allowable items: pillows, extra clothing and personal hygiene items (such as toothpaste, toothbrush, mouthwash, deodorant, wash cloth, etc.) and a cell phone. If you bring a cell phone, please bring a charger and turn the phone off.
    b.    Unallowable items: food, personal gaming devices, personal electronics and reading material (books, newspapers, magazines, other items).
    c.    Contestants must consult the Central Oklahoma Humane Society for clarification on any other items.
