Staff Spotlight: Dr. Kat

July 13th, 2011

When it comes to providing outstanding veterinary care and staying on the cutting edge of spay/neuter practices, Dr. Kat is the lady to call. Formally known as Katrina McLaughlin DVM, Dr. Kat is responsible for the veterinary care at the OK Humane Place Spay/Neuter Clinic. She has performed thousands of spay/neuter surgeries and vaccinations. Dr. Kat’s experience is vast. She previously worked at the Oklahoma City Animal Shelter and has provided veterinary relief services for a number of animal welfare organizations. Dr. Kat is known for providing excellent after-care to the animals she treats and maintains best practices in all aspects of her surgery and veterinary work.

Dr. Kat is definitely not one to talk about herself or promote any of her accomplishments when hassled for an interview. However, her coworkers at OK Humane Place aren’t as shy. They credit Dr. Kat with bringing a sense of humor to the clinic. She’s always up for playing practical jokes and keeps the staff entertained with her animal-themed renditions of popular songs. Dr. Kat is also the clinic’s unsung “handywoman” who’s the first to change a light bulb or repair feral cat cages. Dr. Kat is not only recognized by her coworkers for being a great doctor but she is greatly valued as mentor and friend to all the staff at the clinic.

At the heart of Dr. Kat’s work is an extreme passion for spaying/neutering animals and caring for the “underdogs” who otherwise would be unable to receive veterinary treatment. Every animal treated at the OK Humane Place Spay/Neuter Clinic is lucky to have Dr. Kat on their side.
