The Oklahoma Humane Society will take a step this weekend to help Oklahoma City become a"no-kill” city when it hosts an estate sale featuring antiques, artwork, books and statues.
Christy Counts, Oklahoma Humane Society executive director, said the goal of the sale is twofold:
- To raise funds for a recently launched trap-neuter-return program aimed at controlling Oklahoma City's feral cat population;
- To increase awareness for the need to reduce the burden on animal control officials by saving the lives of all healthy, adoptable animals.
About trap-neuter-return
- A comprehensive plan that humanely traps feral cat colonies before evaluating, vaccinating and neutering them.
- Tame cats then are listed for adoption or returned to their habitat.
What's for sale
An assortment of items including antiques, chandelier lamps, Victorian-era oak and mahogany
furniture, Depression-era glassware, wardrobe stands, marble- and leather-top tables, parlor
sets, fine china, Singer sewing machines, oil paintings and cat-themed collector items.
