Today SB 1712, introduced by Senator Patrick Anderson was passed by the Oklahoma Senate by a vote of 38 to eight! This sends a strong message to clandestine puppy producers throughout Oklahoma.

SB 1712, the Commercial Pet Breeders Act, or AKA “The Black Market Breeders Bill,” will enable the state to finally collect the taxes it is owed by unlicensed dog breeders who will be compelled to pay the taxes they have evaded for so long. This will also create standards of care to stop the rampant cruelty and neglect that is so often a characteristic of puppy mills.
